Homemade Bread| Simple Yeast Bread Recipe

Homemade yeast bread has quickly turned into my favorite bread recipe! Use this dough to make up a “crusty” side for dipping into soups or stews, roll it in tea towels after baking for easy slicing into sandwich bread, or divide it up into rolls for the perfect buttery and fluffy treat!

I started baking this bread after getting a little frustrated with the time commitment that sourdough needed- and I found that my life was easier if I just used this recipe. There is definitely a time and place for sourdough and I still enjoy baking sourdough from time to time- but for the busy weeknights or days when you’d love to have freshly baked bread but you don’t have a lot of time or energy to pour into it- this is the recipe for you!

You will need: All-purpose flour, Yeast (jar or packet), Cooking Oil (olive is what I use), Warm Water, Sugar.

Very simple ingredients that most people keep stocked up in their pantries and you can combine them within 10 or so minutes and be on your way to creating your very own homemade bread!

When I make this bread it takes a total 1 hour and 30 minutes- 30 minutes for the bread to rise after mixing it- then you roll it out and place it into your loaf pans- next you let it rise for another 30 minutes in your loaf pans- then you bake it at 400 for 30-35 minutes!

Like I said it is a quick bread- and if you have a little time to plan ahead before dinner you can make this bread! Also, a little tip if you have to run out to be somewhere and your baking is interrupted- you can place the dough in the fridge- to slow down its rise and then pull it back out before baking and let it come to room temp- if it has risen to the sides of your loaf pans and is room temp- you can go ahead and bake it.

First step: Mix your flour- oil-yeast-sugar- and warm water all in a bowl. It will be sticky at first but you will reserve one cup of AP flour to add in toward to end of mixing.

Next you allow bread to rise in your mixing bowl for 30 minutes- and once that time has passed you will dump it out on your counter on a lightly floured surface and knead it a bit then cut it in half and roll it up and place it into your greased loaf pans.

Let the dough rise again for 30 minutes- once that time has passed you are ready to bake at 400 for 30-35 minutes!
