Homemade Brown Gravy Mix (Dry Pantry Recipe)

A simple homemade brown gravy mix made with pantry staples. Replaces store-bought gravy packets for meatloaf, roasts, and weeknight meals.

Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons beef bouillon
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Add all dry ingredients to a pint-size jar with an airtight lid.
  2. Shake well or sift together until evenly combined.
  3. To make gravy, melt 2 tablespoons butter, lard, or pan drippings in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of the brown gravy mix.
  5. Slowly whisk in 1 cup beef broth or water.
  6. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring often, until thickened.

Notes

This mix replaces one store-bought gravy packet. Use in meatloaf, mashed potatoes, roast beef, or any recipe calling for brown gravy.
